Dopamine Injection BP
Verodopa is a sterile injectable formulation that meets British Pharmacopoeia (BP) standards. Specifically, it delivers Dopamine Hydrochloride at 40mg/mL for intravenous infusion in the management of shock and haemodynamic instability. As a result, it offers a fast-acting vasopressor and inotropic agent for critical care settings.
The injection contains:
- Dopamine Hydrochloride IP (equivalent to Dopamine 40mg per mL) – An endogenous catecholamine that acts on dopaminergic, beta-1, and alpha-1 adrenergic receptors in a dose-dependent manner. Consequently, it increases renal perfusion, cardiac output, and systemic vascular resistance depending on the infusion rate.
Intensivists use Verodopa for the correction of haemodynamic imbalances in shock states, including cardiogenic, septic, and post-resuscitation shock, once fluid volume has been corrected. In addition, its dose-dependent receptor activity allows clinicians to titrate effects from renal perfusion support at low doses to vasopressor action at higher doses. Because of this flexibility, Verodopa suits ICUs and emergency departments where continuous haemodynamic support is required.
